Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Certified Substance Abuse Counselor to join our dynamic team. As a certified professional in the field of substance abuse counseling, you will be responsible for assessing, counseling, and supporting individuals struggling with addiction. Your primary goal will be to guide clients towards recovery, improvement in their personal lives, and attainment of sobriety through evidence-based therapy approaches.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough individual assessments to determine the severity and nature of substance abuse problems
  • Develop personalized treatment plans in collaboration with clients, taking into account their unique circumstances and needs
  • Provide counseling sessions to individuals, families, or groups, utilizing a variety of therapeutic techniques such as motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and mindfulness-based approaches
  • Support clients in setting and achieving their recovery goals, while recognizing and addressing any co-occurring mental health conditions
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers, to ensure comprehensive and integrated care
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of counseling sessions, treatment plans, and client progress
  • Conduct regular assessments and monitor the effectiveness of treatment interventions, making adjustments as necessary
  • Stay updated on the field's latest research, therapeutic approaches, and developments in substance abuse treatment, integrating new findings into practice when appropriate
  • Provide education and resources to clients, families, and the community on substance abuse prevention and recovery support
  • Adhere to ethical guidelines and professional standards, maintaining client confidentiality and fostering trust and rapport with clients

Qualifications and Skills:- Valid certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor from an accredited organization - Proficient knowledge of various therapeutic techniques and treatment models, such as motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and relapse prevention strategies- Excellent assessment and counseling skills, demonstrating empathy, active listening, and relationship-building abilities- Strong understanding of addiction patterns, substance use disorders, and co-occurring mental health conditions- Familiarity with electronic health record systems and computer literacy- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, team members, and other professionals- Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity, particularly when working with diverse populations- Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying abreast of the latest research in substance abuse counseling
